When the friction part is at rest, the grease retains its original shape and will not be automatically lost by gravity, nor will it slip on vertical surfaces and drip through gaps. This feature is very suitable for the friction parts that are stopped and open or not frequently operated, the parts where it is very difficult to replenish the grease material (such as the lubricating parts of cranes in the air), and the parts that are open or poorly sealed.

When the friction part is in motion, the grease will not be thrown away by centrifugal force like lubricating oil, nor will it splash out from the poorly sealed part. Some dripping or splashing can be almost completely avoided, thus ensuring no or less contamination of the environment and preventing contamination of the product. This is especially important for industries like paper, textile, food, etc.

二、Operating temperature range

The operating temperature range of grease is wider than that of lubricating oil. For example, general-purpose lithium-based grease can be used in the temperature range of -20~120℃, and general calcium-based or sodium-based grease can also be used at -20~60℃ or -20~120℃. But a certain grade of lubricating oil is used in a much narrower temperature range.

三、Pressure resistance

The adsorption capacity of lubricating grease on the metal surface is much larger than that of lubricating oil, and it can form a relatively strong oil film and bear relatively high working load, which is the result of the large amount of polar substances contained in the lubricating grease. In addition, when it is used as a base grease, when polar additives are added, the susceptibility is also better than that of lubricating oils。

四、service life

When the grease is used for a long time without being replaced, it can still ensure the function of lubrication, because only a small part of the grease close to the friction surface is really lubricating, and it relies on the influence of the soap fiber to circulate the lubrication, so it can be seen that the service life is quite long; The lubricating oil needs to be added frequently, or the oil is circulated, otherwise the normal lubrication of the machine cannot be guaranteed. In terms of quantity, the consumption of lubricating oil is 15-20 times more than that of grease, so the parts lubricated with grease are much more than that of lubricating oil. For example, in the lubricating parts of automobiles, the use of grease accounts for about 2/3. On the other hand, due to the infrequent refueling, the maintenance period is long, the consumption is reduced, and the maintenance cost is also low。
